Omega has announced a new collection in its popular Constellation family of watches. The 41mm timepieces include models in stainless steel, 18K gold and a combination of both.

The 2020 releases feature a number of subtle design tweaks, including bevelling along the edges of the case and "claws" to give a more slimline look, a reshaped conical crown, redesigned Roman numerals marking the hours, and new hands and indexes. The latter take inspiration from the Manhattan skyline, specifically the elongated triangle facets of the Freedom Tower. The new watches come with a black, blue or textured silver dial.

The Constellation was released in 1952, named after the eight stars represented on its crest. Those stars commemorated eight precision records set by Omega at Kew-Teddington and the Geneva Observatory in the 1930s. Available in steel, yellow gold and rose gold, as well as three grades of finishing, the Constellation became Omega's flagship watch, soon known colloquially as simply “the Swiss watch”. Its distinctive design traits include the four half-moon facets, the "claws" at either end of the case.

The new Constellation family will be available from early August, from £4,700.
