Piaget has a lot to brag about. It was responsible for the world's thinnest watch, only to have its record beaten – again by Piaget. At this year's coronavirus-conscious online trade show, Watches & Wonders (the new-and-improved version of luxury stable Richemont's annual watch summit, SIHH) Piaget's debuted another barely-there beauty that clocked in at a tiny 2mm thickness. It's the sort of technical feat that has other manufactures turning green. And now, Piaget has done the same again on every front with the release of another new piece: the Polo Green, in an actual shade of green.
im电竞官网-As a rejig of a model first launched in 1979, the Piaget Polo Green takes its cue from the sport of the same name (surprise!) and houses a very respectable in-house Piaget 1110P automatic mechanical movement. Though for all the handsome and skinny and technically superior watches, Piaget isn't one to actually show off; like much of the marque's output, the Polo Green is classic, pared-back, and full of the sort of chukka-ready elegance you'd find on the wrist of a minor European royal.
im电竞官网-The watch's crown jewel – the green dial – is achieved by a horizontal guilloche technique, in which intricate geometric patterns are usually engraved by hand to add further depth and richness. In this case, it gives the Polo Green another chance to shine too, with the viridian-coloured dial radiating shades of blue in certain light.
You're impressed. We're impressed. Piaget continues to impress. But if you want in on the new release, move quickly – the Polo Green is limited to just 888 pieces worldwide, priced at £10,900. And if Piaget's cachet holds strong (which it will), there's every reason to think that this could be another fly-off-the-shelves highpoint for one of watchmaking's most respect brands.
